Well here it is folks the new upgrade to the legendary zed 10FXOnly just out so i snatched one up and used it at one of my gigs .
This is the older Zed 10FX :
This is the new Zed 60-10 fx :
ok i own both these products and they are brilliant .
The TWO MAJOR changes to the new zed are .
1 : FADERS !!! yaaaaayyyy
2 : seperate channel MUTES .
These was the 2 major things that put me off using the zed 10fx .
We have the same effects processor , same excellent mic pre outs , same SIZE.
I LOVE this mixer , u get all the benefits of the award winning zed 10FX but with the mutes and sliders .
What is not to like about this mixer ... well i have 2 things :
1. Effects .. being a solo cabaret performer for 20 + years effects are a major importance and my dynacord cms 1000 was SWEET for this, the ZEDs is just OK at best ! the question i have was is the downgrade in effects on the zed worth it :
my answer was yes bearing in mind :
a: the dynacord was 1200 quid compared to zed £249
b: The size and weight of the dynacord was way to big for 2 channels that i use !
the small sacrifice of lesser quality effects was a fair one IMO .
2. THE PRICE ....
well the price of the older ZED 10 is just £249
the new zed 60-10 is a whopping £399 !!!!!! not so cheap anymore !!!!
Other than that , this new install from allan and heath is a massive step forward in small mixers. absolute quality and i am very happy to leave my dynacord cms 1000-mark 3 at home.
For me the major factor is the sixe , i can slip this zed into a little laptop messenger bag and im on my way out the club door , rather than a full size heavy gator case on my shoulder takin half the furniture with me on the way out !
